William H. Dickens, 61
William Herbert Dickens, 61, of Fuquay-Varina died Tuesday after a fight with cancer.
He was a retired volunteer fire fighter with the Fuquay-Varina Fire Department, having served for 20 years. At the time of his death he was employed with Dixie Trucking Company. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Duncan Baptist Church, N.C. 42 West of Fuquay-Varina. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Peggy Tutor Dickens; a son, W. Lane Dickens and wife Teresa of Wendell; a daughter, Stephanie D. Parker and husband Kendall of Four Oaks; three grandsons, Jonathan and Matthew Dicksons of Wendell and Brandon Parker of Four Oaks; a sister, Mary Ree McLaurin and husband, Tracy of Greenville; sisters-in-law, Bernell Sox of Buies Creek, Rozelle Stephenson of Holly Springs and Patsy O’Connell of Fuquay-Varina; brothers-in-law, Winfred and P.G. Tutor of Fuquay-Varina and Michael Tutor of Lake Gaston.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Thomas Funeral Home and other times at the home, 6309 Burt Road, Fuquay-Varina.
Floral arrangements will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary’s St., 4th Floor, Raleigh, N.C. 27605.
