    • Baker, Deliah, born ca 1816, daughter of James and Mary Baker in Cumberland Co., NC, on September 5, 1845, marriage bond. Deliah died February 1899 in Harnett Co., NC. Deliah Baker Buie applied for widow's pension for the Mexican War Certificate No. 1073, file No. 27626, The witnesses on the original application are John Baker and Mary Monroe, dated June 20, 1849.There are several sworn statements as to the character, widowhood, etc of Deliah Buie in the pension applications. She also had to reapply because she lost the pension during the Civil War.
      After Civil war several sworn statements were made to verify that Deliah Buie was still the widow of Hugh Buie and that he did not par-take nor support the Southern Aggression in the Civil War.
