"...material ... from the National Archives... Alfred T. Wester...served in Co. C, 47th NC Infantry (Confederate) enlisted in Wake County on Feb. 5, 1862 at age 17 which would make him the same age as the Alfred Wester who was listed in the 1850 Wake County census at age 4 (bet. 1845-1846) with the Pair family. Alfred T. Wester was captured at Petersburg, VA on March 26, 1865. The name "A. F. Hester" appears next to signature by mark to an Oath of Allegiance to the United States, subscribed and sworn to at Point Lookout, Md., June 13, 1865. His place of residence was Wake Co., NC, and a description of him follows: Complexion: dark; hair: brown; Eyes: blue; height: 5 ft. 6 in."

The parentage of Alfred T. Wester in unknown. However, I believe him to
be a son of John H. Wester and Unknown (Pair?) who may have died between
1845 and 1848 because John H. married Delila Matthews 24 August 1848 in
Cumberland Co unty, NC. Alexander Rufus Wester, a son of Alfred T.
Wester, was remembered as a cousin of the Delilah Wester Vance family.
Delilah Wester Vance was a gr anddaughter of John H. and Delila Matthews
Wester. Also, Alfred T. Wester wa s buried in the same cemetery as
Jackson Wester, a son of John H. and Delila Matthews Wester and father of
Delilah Wester Vance.
The Death Certificate of Alexander R. Wester indicates both his parents
were born in Harnett County, NC. Harnett County was formed from
Cumberland County in 1855.

Records from the NATIONAL ARCHIV ES TRUST FUND indicate that Alfred T.
Wester was a Private in Co. C, 47 NC In fantry having enlisted at age 17
in Raliegh on Feb 3, 1862 for a period of 3 years or the war. This would
make Alfred T. Wester the same age as the Alfred Wester listed in 1850
Wake County with Thomas and Polly Pair. On 26 Mar 18 65 Alfred T. Wester
was captured at Petersburg, VA. The name "A. F. Hester" appears next to
